Writing Resources
College students in every academic discipline will eventually and inevitably face this unavoidable fact – the assigned paper. Whether the paper is a twenty-page dissertation on how the body works or a five-page review of Stephen King’s finest books, at some point, a paper of some particular type will have to be written. With that in mind, many questions may arise. For example, should the paper be single or double-spaced, one-inch margins or two, and do sources need to be cited? It can be a daunting process but fortunately, several organizations have set guidelines to help students through the process. By using these guidelines, students can also avoid issues related to unintentional plagiarism. Featured resources include:
MLA (Modern Language Association) Style is mainly used by literary disciplines.
CMS (Chicago Manual of Style) is used in the humanities, including literature, history, and the arts.
APA (American Psychological Association) is used in the social and behavioral sciences.
