Joel W. Fredell, Ph.D.
Project Director

Joel W. Fredell is a Professor of English at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he teaches courses in Medieval Studies and Publishing Studies. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College and his Ph.D. from Indiana University.

His published work includes studies of late‐medieval English authors Geoffrey Chaucer, John Gower, Margery Kempe, William Langland, and John Lydgate. He is especially interested in the production, decoration, and circulation of manuscripts and their survival in the hands of antiquarians and collectors.

Recently Leverhulme Visiting Professor of Medieval Studies at the University of York in York, UK and Women’s Hospital Distinguished Professor in the Humanities at Southeastern, he has received grants and fellowships from the Huntington Library, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Philosophical Society, the Louisiana Board of Regents, and others.

Charles W. Borchers, IV earned his M.A. in English from Southeastern Louisiana University in May 2012.

Following graduation, he became a Consultant for Digital Humanities Projects for the Department of English, where continues to contribute to online documentary editions of The Book of Margery Kempe and its sister project, The Early Works of John Ruskin (1826‐1842).

He is the author of Showcase and PROTOtypeR, both of which he continues to develop.

Terri J. Ilgen earned her bachelor's degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2007—graduating with a focus in the Humanities and with minors in both the Physical and Behavioral Sciences. She is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in English at Southeastern and has completed the coursework for a Master of Arts in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Her work in the Digital Humanities began in 2011, when she was awarded a graduate assistantship to work on The Book of Margery Kempe.

Currently, she serves as Web Master for Southeastern's Department of English and tutors within university's Writing Center.

Despite her busy schedule, she continues to maintain her role as Senior Encoder on The Book of Margery Kempe.

Jaime K. Barrilleaux earned her Bachelor and Master of Arts in English from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2003 and 2010, respectively, and is currently pursuing a second master's in Library and Information Sciences, with a concentration in Archives and Special Collections, at the University of Southern Mississippi.

With interests that include preservation and conservation, as well as digital archiving, she began her work in the Digital Humanities in early 2007—working on The Early Works of John Ruskin (1826‐1842) while writing her thesis on the author.

She continues to remain involved in the Digital Humanities as an encoder for The Booke of Margery Kempe.

Casey White is a recent graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Language and a minor in Publishing Studies. She is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in English/Professional Writing at the university, where, in addition to encoding The Book of Margery Kempe, she provides editorial and research assistance to the journal Nineteenth Century Studies.
